I have to say this: I LOVE skincare products (I guess if I didn’t, I would be an esthetician)….you know how some people can’t say no to a new pair of shoes or a purse? That’s how I feel about scrubs, masques, serums, etc., especially if it smells good or contains some awesome natural ingredients. I try to stay away from products that contain lots of fillers, dyes, and fragrances because I tend to be very sensitive and a lot of things make my skin itchy. I also don’t care for products with a strong, artificial scent because they can make my allergies act up. So when I find items like this Trader Joe’s lavender salt scrub I get so excited that I have to share with everyone!

Ingredient List:

Sea Salt

Draw toxins out of the body and exfoliate.

Sweet Almond Oil

Super moisturizing and antioxidant.

Safflower Oil

Moisturizing and noncomedogenic (won’t clog pores).

Sunflower Oil

Softens/smoothes your skin, and contains lecithin and other essential fatty acids.

Lavender Oil

A calming and soothing oil, good for redness and is antibacterial.

Grapeseed Oil

Moisturizing and nourishing for the skin. It’s also has soothing, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties.

Apricot Kernel Oil

Good for dry/mature skin, maintains skin suppleness and elasticity.

Avocado Oil

Rich in vitamins A, C, and E – promotes regeneration of scarred skin.

Green Tea Leaf Extract

Contains vitamins A, C, and E, and is both antibacterial and antioxidant.

St. John’s Word Extract

Anti-inflammatory, good for sensitive/rough/chapped skin and acne (or any skin type experiencing inflammation/irritation).

Tocopherol

AKA Vitamin E. Vitamin E is an antioxidant good for healing skin via skin renewal. Tocopherol is often used in products as a natural preservative.

How Do You Use Trader Joe’s Lavender Salt Scrub?

It’s easy to use this salt scrub, but keep a few of these tips in mind when you do:

  1. Remove a bit of product from the tub.

A little goes a long way so don’t use too much.

  2. Combine it with a small amount of water.

    About a tablespoon.

  3. Gently massage it into your skin with your hands.

Use small, circular motions moving up your body and toward your heart.

Remember, there’s no need to add a lot of pressure when you massage the scrub into your skin–if you do, you run the risk of scratching yourself with it.

Also, I recommend using a small spatula or something similar to remove the product from the tub to prevent contaminating it.

If you’re going to use your fingers to remove it, and assuming you’re using the scrub in the shower, dry your hands first before removing the product so excess water doesn’t mix with the scrub inside of the tub.

Trader Joe’s Lavender Salt Scrub Product Pros

Thanks to all of the wonderful oils in this salt scrub, my skin was so smooth & soft after using it that I didn’t even have to apply lotion afterward.

Another thing I like about this scrub is that the salt is super fine and just melts away – unlike other scrubs with larger, jagged salt pieces that can irritate and scratch the skin. And because it melts away, it doesn’t leave salt crystals behind even after you rinse (which can make it messy).

I used to use this scrub in my treatment room when I saw clients. I used it to perform an arm scrub during facials while I let a mask set on a client’s skin.

This was my favorite scrub because most of it melted into the skin; any additional scrub residue was an easy clean up with a warm damp towel. I didn’t have to spend too much extra time sweeping up salt scrub crystals afterward.

Keep In Mind: Gentle Exfoliation Is Always the Way To Go

You don’t have to scrub your skin completely off for a good exfoliation, and just because a product is super abrasive does not mean that it works better…it’s probably doing you more harm than good. So when you use this product, be sure to gently massage it into your skin.

If this sounds like something you’d like to try, you may purchase it at Trader Joe’s for $5.99.
