Image Skincare ORMEDIC Balancing Gel Polisher Review

Last updated on October 19th, 2023 at 10:04 pm

I love a good exfoliator – especially one that combines both chemical and physical exfoliants. Many exfoliators on the market are either chemical or physical, and sometimes it’s a little confusing when trying to decide which type is best for you if you don’t understand the difference. What exactly makes them different? Let’s take a look at the Image Skincare Ormedic Balancing Gel Polisher and find out.

The difference between a chemical and physical exfoliator

A chemical exfoliator is something that is going to exfoliate your skin by loosening the bonds that hold skin cells together, causing them to shed. Some examples of chemical exfoliants are: AHAs (glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid), BHAs (salicylic acid), and enzymes (papaya, pineapple). A physical exfoliator is something that is going to be gritty (like the notorious St. Ives Apricot scrub or a salt scrub) or round and smooth like small beads.

Balancing Gel Polisher Has Both Chemical and Physical Exfoliants

The Balancing Gel Polisher by Image Skincare is currently my favorite exfoliator because it feels nice and cool, smells fresh and uplifting, and it leaves my skin feeling smooth immediately. After using it for about a month, I noticed that the milia I usually have on both sides of my face were gone. (Milia are those hard, white little bumps of trapped dead skin and oil that aren’t really a whitehead and are definitely not a black head).

What makes this combination of chemical and physical exfoliants so effective? The fact that Image combined a physical exfoliant not just with enzymes, but also with AHAs. In my eyes this really is a winning, 3-in-1 creation.

What’s in it?

  • pomegranate (enzyme)
  • caviar lime extract (AHA)
  • olive pit powder (physical exfoliator)
  • bamboo spheres (physical exfoliator)
  • smart sensing beads (physical, earth-friendly exfoliator)
  • certified organic grape water
  • certified organic aloe vera

When it comes to using acids (AHAs and BHAs) I tend to take the more conservative route and don’t use them every single day, and especially not twice a day. And while this exfoliator is gentle, I recommend you use it about 2 times a week at most. Sometimes I add it to my cleanser at night, and occasionally I leave it on like a mask for a few minutes before rinsing it off. I like to add it to my Vital C hydrating facial cleanser if I’m going to leave it on like a mask, because I get the hydrating benefits and vitamin c boost of the cleanser along with a good exfoliation.

I cannot recommend this product enough, and if you’re looking for an exfoliator to add to your skincare routine then this is the one, guaranteed. This is also a nice exfoliator to switch over to for the warmer months because its cooling gel base is very refreshing after a long, hot day.
